At first glance, Rico’s 1977 Mini Special 1100 is simply a beautifully kept old Mini. But spend a little more time around it and you quickly realize there is much more hiding beneath that familiar shape.

Under the bonnet, the little British machine carries a BMW K1100 16V cylinder head, giving an old recipe a completely different character. It is unusual, clever and perhaps just a little bit mad. If this isn’t a restomod, then I don’t know what is.

Almost every part of the car has been touched, right down to the smallest details like the seat brackets, handles, mirrors and countless other pieces. Rico built it with the help of his friends, but his signature is all over the car. His eye for precision, aesthetics and the smallest of details has turned this Mini into something deeply personal. This is not simply a modified Mini. It is Rico’s idea of what a Mini could be.
